How did he get here: Allen Perez, currently single with no children has always known that being a pilot would be in his future. Although, there was a time when that future was very much in doubt. Allen received a Naval BOOST scholarship in 1988, and after completing BOOST (a one year military school run by Marines in San Diego) he was awarded a scholarship to Auburn University in 1989. Allen left the Navy in '93 due to military cutbacks and graduated from Auburn with a degree in Aviation Management in 1996. After graduating with no flight training and the military no longer an option, it seems as if life as a pilot was only going to be a pipe dream. However, 8 years later, he was given a chance to become a private pilot. It was about 8 months later when he realized that just being a private pilot (and running out of money) would
never be enough.
It was then he put together a plan to begin the journey and become a commercial
pilot and flight instructor. On May 6th
2008, he took up the
journey that had been set aside. It seemed impossible since there were so many
things that had to happen but one by one each task was completed. On October
31st 2008, the journey to become a commercial pilot and Flight Instructor was
completed.
What is in the future: To pursue a
career as a flight instructor, give his time as a pilot to charitable
organizations, and maybe one day owning his own flight school and becoming a
missionary pilot.
